This weekend (20-22 February) the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship kicks off ‘down under’ at Phillip Island in Australia, with PTR Triumph Factory Racing’s Oli Bayliss and Tom Booth-Amos back in action aboard the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS.

Ahead of the opening round, the British-based team were in action this week at Phillip Island for an official pre-season test, where the PTR duo wrapped up testing with Bayliss second on combined times and Booth-Amos third - providing a solid base setting for the long-awaited season opener.

Heading into the 2026 season with the same line-up as last year, PTR Triumph will be looking to build on their 2025 results, which saw Booth-Amos as a front runner for the championship title for most of the season. Securing his maiden win in the Supersport World Championship, along with nine visits to the podium, the British rider narrowly missed out on third place in the standings at the final round at Jerez, to eventually finish a respectable fourth overall after a strong season aboard the Street Triple 765.

For teammate Bayliss, last season marked his debut in the Supersport World Championship where he was a regular points scorer, with his highest finish in fourth place at Balaton Circuit in Hungary, where he also secured his first-ever front row start. The Australian will be looking to improve his results this season as he sets his sights on the podium.

The PTR Triumph Factory Racing will get the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship season started on Friday (20 February) with FP1 taking place at 10:25 local time (GMT+11). The opening race of the year gets underway on Saturday (21 February) 14:30 local time, with the final race of the weekend on Sunday (22 February) 14:30 local time. Tom Booth-Amos:

“Overall I’m happy with the work we’ve done during the test; this week was my first time riding in the dry since Jerez, so it took a bit of time to get back in the flow of things. There’s still a little bit of work to be done for this weekend, but I’m feeling good and confident and looking forward to getting the season started.”

Oli Bayliss:

“I had a good feeling with the Street Triple during the test and it was great to get back on track after the off-season. We made improvements over the days and I am feeling comfortable that we finished second overall on the time sheet. Thanks to the team for their work during the test and across the winter, I’m looking forward to the weekend and seeing how we get on.”

Simon Buckmaster - PTR Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager:

“We have to be happy wrapping up the test second and third fastest ahead of the opening round this weekend. Oli kept making improvements across the whole test and it was great to see him up there in the times and finishing second after the off-season. Tom struggled at the start but by his own admission he’s not normally great at testing, so in the end we are happy where he finished. It’s very positive looking towards the weekend, we will analyse all the data and look to improve for the race and be right there but a good job. I’d also like to say well done to Compos Racing, Ondrej Vostatek, a former rider of ours, sixth fastest overall so congratulations to them. We are working very closely with them so that all Triumphs can be as strong as possible this season. Overall this week has been a good job for us as a team and all at Triumph Factory Racing, we’re excited to get the season underway this weekend.”
