Deniz Öncü stormed to his second Moto2™ victory with a stunning ride from sixth on the grid at the Sachsenring, mastering the chaos to cross the line ahead of Barry Baltus and Jake Dixon in a dramatic and incident-filled German Grand Prix.

Round 11 of the Moto2™ World Championship saw a mix of conditions throughout the weekend. While practice and the race itself were held in the dry, a very wet qualifying session reshuffled the order, with Jake Dixon putting his Triumph-powered machine on pole despite a heavy crash in FP2. Baltus lined up second, with Tony Arbolino completing the front row.

Dixon made a strong start to Sunday’s race, but was forced wide by Senna Agius - who jumped the start and nearly took the Brit off the track - dropping Dixon to seventh. He quickly fought back to fourth, while Arbolino led the early laps ahead of Baltus and Öncü.

Diogo Moreira, starting 25th after a difficult qualifying, launched a spectacular charge through the field. By lap three he was up to 10th, eventually reaching fourth place. But his race unravelled after an over-ambitious move on Dixon saw him collide with the Brit, who miraculously stayed upright. Moreira ran wide and rejoined dangerously into the path of David Alonso, taking the Colombian out of the race.

At the front, Öncü was locked in a tense fight with Arbolino as Baltus kept a watching brief in third. The pressure eventually told on Arbolino, who crashed out while running second as Dixon closed in on the leading duo.

With just a few laps remaining, a separate incident where Marcos Ramirez lost control and hit Albert Arenas brought out the red flags, prematurely ending the race. Öncü was declared the winner, with Baltus second and Dixon completing the podium.

Manuel Gonzalez made amends for a lacklustre qualifying by charging from 16th on the grid to finish fourth and extend his championship lead. Meanwhile, Celestino Vietti also impressed - climbing from 18th to round out the top five.
